Abstract

484,199. Heating &c. apparatus with reflectors. ELECTRIC INVENTIONS CO., and HALASZ, P. Sept. 28, 1936, No. 26201. Drawings to Specification. [Classes 39 (iii) and 75 (iii)] A reflector formed by the rotation of an arc of an ellipse about an axis spaced from at least one focus is associated with an arcuate or annular heating element located along a circular focal line, the object to be heated being arranged at the other focus or focal line. The major axis of the ellipse may be perpendicular or inclined to the axis of rotation. The reflector may be arranged in a water jacket and may be of glass or ceramic material and provided with a gold or platinum coating. The apparatus may be constructed as a cigar lighter or is adapted for association with cooking utensils, a cooking plate, or a crucible. In the last case the interior of the crucible is filled with a protective gas.
