Abstract
472,099. Hardening metal articles. DENNEEN, F. S., and DUNN, W. C. Oct. 29, 1936, No. 29386. Convention date, Dec. 14, 1935. [Class 72] In surface hardening, a splined or toothed article 2 by first heating by means of a circumferentially disposed inductor 5 and then quenching, heat insulating fillers 8 are arranged between the teeth 1 to retard the quenching of the roots thereof. The wall of the inductor is hollow and perforated and the quench is supplied therethrough under control of a valve 7.
