[Class 60] [Also in Group XXVIII] The driving roller 2 of a sand belt 1 is carried at the end of a shaft 4 journalled within a tube 5 extending past and clamped to a tubular standard 9 which also supports the motor 73 and drive pulley 11 of the shaft, the mountings being such that the belt may be swung into a horizontal or vertical plane about the shaft 4, which is itself adjustable in a horizontal plane about the standard. The support for the tube 5 may be adjustably positioned along the length of the standard by means of a screw 40. Extending transversely from the tube 5 is a tube 22 which supports the idler roller 3 for the remote end of the belt. The shaft 37 of the idler is carried by a swivel journal 32 mounted on a hub 24 on the tube 22 and by a journal 36 which is adjustable by a nut 34 towards and away from an arm 33 carried by the hub 24. A spring 25 between the hub and an adjustable collar 27, ensures a uniform tension in the belt. For aligning the idler with the horizontal plane through the axis of the driver 2, the hub may be tilted by means of opposed screws 30 acting on a stud 28. A guard or stop member 33b is mounted between the upper and lower runs of the belt and a shelf or table 56 is mounted to support the upper run. A work rest 60 is mounted at one end of the upper run so that it may be set at any desired angle to the belt. The tube 22 is connected at one end to a suction hood 47 around the idler 3 and at the other end to a suction fan. A similar hood 52 is provided around the roller 2. The other end of the shaft 4 carries a sand disc 13 with which is associated an adjustable work rest 66 and a suction hood 71. Heavy work maybe mounted on a carriage D running on grooved rollers B running on tracks C extending transversely to the length of the belt.
