Abstract
467,915. Thermionic valves ; amplifying circuits. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd. Dec. 24, 1935, No. 35772. Convention date, Dec. 27, 1934. [Classes 39 (i) and 40 (v)] The effective input capacity of a valve is eliminated or reduced by the provision of an additional electrode, the potential of which is arranged to vary in phase with, and to the same extent as, the control grid potential. The Figure shows a valve with a current limiting grid 1 so that increases in anode current cause corresponding decreases in the current to the screen 2, 4, adjacent the control grid 3. A resistance 12 in the screen circuit is so proportioned that voltage changes on the screen are equal to those on the control grid so that the input impedance is effectively infinitely large. If the resistance 12 is increased the input will be equivalent to a negative capacity in series with a negative resistance which may be used to neutralise inherent capacity such as that due to the anode. A suppressor grid 5 may be provided. The valve electrodes connected together may be connected inside or outside the envelope.
