Abstract

451,729. Making nozzles. WANDERERWERKE VORM. WINKLHOFER & JAENICKE AKT.-GES., Sch÷nau, near Chemnitz, Germany. Aug. 17, 1935, No. 23159. Convention date, Aug. 18, 1934. [Class 83 (ii)] [See also Group XXVII] Nozzles, especially for injecting fuel in airless injection Diesel engines, and comprising a number of parts held together by a holder, are made by preparing the contacting faces of the parts, forming in these faces grooves which in the assembled article bound the nozzle passage, and after assembly forming a tapering bearing surface thereon. Hard materials such as austenitic nickelchromium steels or ceramic materials may be employed. A nozzle may be built up from sections 1 the surfaces 3 defining a nozzle opening. Different sections of opening are illustrated, and forms are described in which the areas of contact 2 lie in the same plane. The cross section of the opening may vary through the nozzle, Fig. 6a. Sections 1, Fig. 8, are formed from an hexagonal prism 10, Fig. 7, the surfaces 11, 12 13 of which are respectively parallel in pairs. The corners a, b, c are worked to form the nozzle opening in the final article, the member 10 is cut along the lines 14, 15, 16, and the sections are assembled so that the faces 11, 12, 13 respectively contact. A conical bearing surface 5 is then formed for engagement by a union screw-cap. A nozzle comprising four sections is similarly formed from a body of square cross-section.
