[Class 4] In an aeroplane brake - control system having a plurality of fluid pressure relays positioned for actuation by a common actuating link displaceable symmetrically or asymmetrically relatively to the axes of the relays in order to apply the brakes on the two sides of the machine equally or differentially, the displacement of the link is controlled by a plurality of operative connections to means displaceable in two directions at right-angles to one another. The construction of the relays and the mounting of the actuating link are as described in the parent Specification. The link-displacement means comprises a cranked lever 2, Fig. 6, pivoted on shoulders 34 projecting from a member 49 rotatably mounted in a base-member 43 secured to the fuselage. One end of the core of a cable 5 passes centrally through the member 49 and is secured to one end of the lever 2, while the other end of the core is connected to the pivoted metal segment 11, Fig. 3, the projecting toe portion 12 of which is adapted to engage the actuating link which is slidable in a guide carried by a rotatable bracket 19. Adjacent ends of the cores of outer cables 4, 6 are secured to a cam 27 fixed to the member 49, the other ends being secured to brackets 8 fixed to the bracket 19, so that when the handle 2 is depressed and the member 49 and cam 27 rotated thereby one of the cable cores is tensioned and rotates the bracket 19, to effect differential braking. Depression of the handle without rotating the member 49 causes the brakes to be applied equally. The cam 27 has a depression 39 engaged by a spring-pressed roller so that additional pressure has to be exerted on the lever 2 before rotating the member 49. When the brakes are applied equally the pressure may be maintained by means of a catch 20, Fig. 6, on the lever 2 engaging a detent 22. Springs 36 may return the lever to normal position after it has been applied.
