Abstract

447,136. Collapsable containers for retailing fruit &c. PAGE, J. E., Hyeres, Glen Stuart Road, Magill, South Australia. Nov. 15, 1934, No. 32884. [Class 18] A collapsable container, e.g. for retailing fruit or vegetables is made from the paper board or cardboard blank shown, of which panels d, e, f, form the sides. Panels e, g have upper extensions and lateral extensions i and panels d, f have narrow upper extensions} and lateral extensions k. Extensions h have projections n which pass through apertures o in the base to form feet, lugs P<1> formed by the slits which constitute the apertures o also acting as feet. Extensions j overlie extensions i and extensions h overlie extensions k. The apertures o and the other apertures shown serve for ventilation. A handle t, Fig. 5, may be provided, the ends of which pass through inclined slots v and are bent along inclined crease-lines so that the ends lie against the side walls and form stops to prevent withdrawal of the handle. The handle may be pressed down level with the top of the container to facilitate stacking. The container may be square, rectangular, octagonal, oblong or other shape in plan, and the cutting and creasing of the blanks may be performed in a machine which acts on a continuous roll.
