Abstract

436,710. Speedometers. BURGE,W.S., Rogerthorpe, Pembroke Road, and SALTER, H. C., Maretino, South Approach, both in Moor Park, Hertfordshire. March 20, 1935, Nos. 8716 and 14364. [Class 106 (iii)] A dial 3 for use with a speedometer has an illuminated arc - shaped slot 4 adapted to be traversed by a wing 10 driven by the speedresponsive device, so that the length of the slot uncovered by the wing represents the speed. Part 7 of the slot on one side of the arrow slot 5 may be glazed in red to indicate whether a speed limit has been exceeded, and an additional warning may be given by the closing of a bell circuit by a contact on the moving wing 10. The speedometer may be located wholly or partly outside the dial casing. The device may be mounted on the dashboard, or on the rear or front of the vehicle so as to be visible to persons on the road.
