Abstract
436,600. Liquid-fuel burners. GERLACH, H. G. A., 10, Idungatan, Stockholm. May 2, 1934, No. 13256. Convention date, March 8. [Class 75 (i)] A liquid-fuel burner in the form of a bowl 1 which is closed or substantially closed at one end and of circular cross section contracting towards the other open end 3 and to which fuel is supplied together with a current of air with rotating or whirling motion is provided with one or more intakes for an additional rotating or whirling air supply. The liquid fuel and primary air are supplied through a substantially tangential pipe 4 and the fuel collects in an evaporating vessel 5 of asbestos or other refractory material. If the bowl is of such material a separate evaporating vessel need not be used. Additional air is supplied through substantially tangential but preferably angularly adjustable nozzles 9 or 10 in the closed end or sides respectively of the bowl or through both. Air may also be supplied through an axially extending tubular member 13 having a spiral guide plate and one or more adjustable outlet slots 15. The turbulence may be increased by spiral guides 7 inside the bowl and by the provision of a conical member 8 if the air supply member 13 is omitted. An overflow pipe 6 carries off excess fuel. An insulating covering 17 may be provided.
