Abstract
434,057. Heating feedwater; purifying steam. INTERNATIONAL COMBUSTION, Ltd., Aldwych House, Aldwych, London.- (Combustion Engineering Co., Inc. ; 200, Madison Avenue, New York, U.S.A.) Oct. 22, 1934, No. 30223. [Classes 64 (i) and 123 (ii)] Steam flowing through a boiler steam drum from inlets 5 to an outlet 6 is purified and dried by passing it first through inclined perforated screens 12 down which feedwater flows from a supply pipe 7, and then through further perforated screens 15, 35. Feedwater enters the drum through apertures 10 in the supply pipe which is submerged in a trough F, from which the water overflows through notches 29 into a channel directing it between the inclined screens 12. Transverse plates 23 attached to the wall of the drum at the sides of the inlet tubes 5, direct all the steam through the screens. Transverse plates 38 at the sides of the screens 35 direct the steam to the outlet 6. When steam enters the drum on both sides, screens 12 are arranged in front of both sets of steam inlets, and oppositely inclined screens 35 are arranged at the top of the drum in front of the steam outlets.
