422,099. Pile fabrics. INTERNATIONAL LATEX PROCESSES, Ltd., 10, Lefebvre Street, St. Peter's Port, Guernsey.-(Assignees of Magyar Ruggyantaarugyar Reszvenytarsasag; 17, Kerepesi-ut, Budapest) May 1, 1934, No. 13086. Convention date, July 6, 1933. [Class 142 (iv)] Pile or tufted sheet material, such as carpets are obtained by intro ducing the free ends of one or more groups of filamentary materials sucl as threads into an aqueous dispersion of rubber &c. then setting the rubber, &c and cutting through the threads at a distance from the rubber layer &c., necessary to give the required length of pile. The threads may be wound on spools &c., 1 and be guided through one or more perforated sheets, or wire nets, &c., 3, which may be movable, the rubber &c., being applied by raising a tray 5 containing it. After the rubber &c., has been set, the tray and threads are lowered, the threads cut, after which other trays of rubber may be applied to the cut threads till these are used up. The rubber layer can be subsequently dried and /or vulcanized. The rubber &c., may contain vulcanizers, fillers, and dyestuffs, and substances, such as sodium silicofluoride or a mixture of zinc oxide and ammonium sulphate, to make it gel on the application of heat, or in the cold after a time. The embedding layer of rubber, &c., may be compact or spongy and may comprise a froth or foam. Threads loosely compressed in parallel formation into blocks may be used. Vegetable, animal and mineral fibrous substances may be employed. A pattern may be obtained by using coloured threads, which may be dyed before or after embedding. A fabric reinforcement may be stuck to the free side of the rubber &c.
