425,860. Dust removing and separating apparatus. STANDARD TOBACCO STEMMER CO., 511, 5th Avenue, New York, U.S.A. June 4, 1934, No. 16641. Convention date, Feb. 8. [Class 8 (ii)] [See also Groups II and VI] A machine for treating tobacco leaf material such as a stemming machine of the kind in which the material is subjected to treatment in an enclosed housing 10 is provided with an outlet 24 directly connected to a combined air exhauster and dust separator 25, the outlet 24 being covered by a travelling screen 19 so that only the dust particles are removed. A rotating brush 27 is arranged to keep the screen 19 clean. The separator comprises a rotary disc 32 with fan blades 31 its rim being slightly spaced from the casing to provide an annular opening 35 into a dust collecting chamber 36, the air passing away into a scroll-shaped discharge chamber 37.
