Abstract
411,049. Moulding concrete blocks. WILSON, J. M., 9, Salen Street, Glasgow. Dec. 13, 1933, No. 35044. [Class 87 (ii).] Faced concrete or like slabs or tiles are manufactured in piles by the use of alternate onepiece open mould frames B of wood or welded metal and plain spacing sheets C of asbestos, on which the frames rest. The bottom of each mould thus formed is covered with the facing layer, for example watered cement or granite chips, and the concrete forming the main bulk then added until the mould is filled. The mould is then tapped by a hammer to vibrate the contents, following which it is covered by the next spacing sheet and so on until a pile is formed. Fig. 2 shows one of the moulded blocks D after removal of the frame, ready for removal on the sheet C to be stacked for hardening. Handles A<a> are provided for manipulating the mould frames. The slabs may have slightly tapered edges to facilitate removal of the frames.
