[Class 141.] In forming joint coverings for vehicle bodies, a moulding is. formed from a strip of rolled sheet metal having a base portion and a marginal flange, the base or flange, or both, having a longitudinally extending thickened portion arranged to limit the folding down of the flange in the closing operation. According to one construction, Fig. 2, the strip is of uniform thickness and the thickened portions 11<c> of the flanges 11<b> are formed by folding the strip at its edges. The moulding is secured in position by screws passing through holes 13 in the base portion 11<a> thereof. In a modification, Fig. 11, the base 18<a> of the strip is deformed to provide an abutment for the thickened edges of the flanges 18b, and in another modification, Fig. 5, the base 14<a> is depressed at 14<a> to provide a space for the heads of the securing screws 12. In the latter construction, the thickened edges 14<c> of the flanges 14b engage the base on either side of the depression. In the forms shown in Figs. 18 and 27, strips of non-uniform thickness are used to provide the desired stops on the base or flanges, or both. The drip moulding 25, Fig. 31, is formed with an upper flange 25<c> and a lower trough-shaped flange 25<a>, these flanges having inturned thickened edges 25d, 25b, respectively. The moulding is secured in position by screws 12 which are inserted before the turning down of the upper flange. In another form, the drip moulding is bent from a rolled strip having beaded edges. The strips may be of steel, aluminium, or other suitable sheet metal. Specifications 295,843 and 298,884, [both in Class 20 (iv)], are referred to.
