Abstract

401,287. Filters. VOKES C. G., 95, Lower Richmond Road, Putney, London. April 28, 1932, No. 12244. [Class 46.] A filter unit comprising a pleated screen has means for defining the space occupied by the screen on all sides, such means being constituted on one side at least by reinforcing means which do not obstruct access of liquid to or from the screen. As shown in Fig. 2, a pleated screen 1 is reinforced inside by a perforated sheet 5 and has its outer contour defined by flanges onend plates 2. The screen may comprise one or more layers of fabric or gauze. In a modification the inner reinforcement is formed of a spiral wire and there is an outer reinforcing cylinder of metal gauze or perforated sheet metal. Fig. 3 shows a flat filter unit comprising a pleated screen 1 between two perforated sheets 5, the space occupied being defined by a rectangular casing.
