Abstract

Dark cements are prepared from raw materials which are deficient in magnesia by adding to the raw material when it is in the state of powder or slurry magnesia compounds such as dolomite in such amounts as to obtain a clinker which contains from 0.85 per cent to 2 per cent magnesia. If desired additional colouring materials such as metallic salts and oxides may be added to increase the colouring effect.
