Abstract
408,810. Packeting pulverulent materials. BRYANT, E. J. G., 29, Roslyn Street, Ashbury, near Sydney, Australia. April 24, 1933, No. 11989. Convention date, April 22, 1932. [Class 94 (i).] In the packeting of weighed quantities of flour, cocoa, and like substances, a secondary hopper shown in sectional perspective is mounted below the primary hopper. The cylindrical lower end of the primary hopper passes into a sleeve 5 secured to the top walls 6. The walls 7 are of inverted pyramidal form and are flared at 8, the smallest perimeter 9 being of the same size and configuration as the upstanding end 10 of the paper liner within the carton 11 to be filled. A shoot 12 having a conical upper edge and a circular mouth 14 is arranged within the casing so that ports 13 are provided between the shoot 12 and the sleeve 5 and ports 16 between the shoot and the walls 7. A lid (not shown) fits over the top of the walls and a tube 19 leads to a suction fan, a dust collecting bag being interposed in a collecting chamber. The hoppers may be agitated by hammers. In use, the carton is raised or the hopper is lowered so that the liner 10 contacts with the perimeter 9 and the charge falls through the shoot 12. The displaced air escapes through the ports 13, 16 and is drawn off by the fan.
