Abstract

406,291. Liquid-fuel furnaces. WHITTLEMAN, H. C., Barclays Chambers, Castlefurd, Yorkshire. May 19, 1932, Nos. 14302, 18010, and 27412. [Class 51 (i).] An ignition chamber 1, having a conduit 4 in the wall through which air, or air and st am, is fed to an oil burner 9 for preheating, is connected to a furnace wall by an air inlet cone 17 fitted with a regulating shutter 20. The cone may be protected against radiant heat by asbestos or the like 28, and the conduit may be provided with jet nozzles or orifices 21 for supplying air to the cone. A perforated ring may be connected through a valve to the conduit 4 for projecting jets of air along the internal surface of the chamber 1 and, if desired, also along the interior of the cone. The third Provisional Specification states also that air inlets may be provided between the chamber 1 and the cone 17.
