Abstract

399,980. Bolts and nuts. DARDELET THREADLOCK CORPORATION, 120, Broadway, New York, U.S.A.- (Assignees of Hoke, W. E. ; 1405, Cold Spring Lane, Baltimore, U.S.A.) Sept. 29, 1932, No. 27076. Convention date, April 8. [Class 89 (i).] Bolts provided with corrugated or ribbed shanks of parallel helical form are shaped so that the ribs are adapted to fold laterally into overlapped relation when the bolt is in working position. The bolt 1 has helical ribs 6 on its shank 3, a head 4 separated therefrom by a groove 7, and a lower end provided with self-locking thread 5. The sections of the flutings 6 are such that when the bolt is driven into the hole in the work pieces P they fold over and grip the walls of the hole. Preferably the metal of the bolt is softer than the metal of the parts P. Specification 242,299, [Class 89 (i), Bolts &c.], is referred to. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also the provision of rings of projection ribs on the nut and bolt-head faces which are intended to bite into the surface of the work. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
