Abstract

399,987. Soldering-irons. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., Magnet House, Kingsway, London, and HUNT, J. R., c/o General Electric Co., Wembley, Middlesex. Oct. 18, 1932, No. 29128. [Class 83 (iv).] An electric soldering-iron of the type comprising a copper bit slidable through a tube heated by an electrical heating element, has the surface of the bit in contact with the tube coated with a layer of less easily oxidizable material, copper being a main constituent of the layer. This may be effected by heating the bit to about 350‹ C. in zinc dust or to about 900‹ C. in aluminium dust. Specification 227,448, [Class 83 (iv), Metals, Working], is referred to.
