Abstract

399,029. Traffic signals. WRIGHT, W. B., 51, Goulden Road, Withington, Manchester. Oct. 29, 1932, Nos. 30431/32' and 4111/33. [Class 118 (ii).] A device for rendering visible hand-signals given, for example, by policemen, cyclists, pedestrians, or motorists is strapped to the hand or wrist and includes one or more batteries a, b, an electric lamp bulb c and a switch which is adapted to be closed by the expansion of the muscles in extending the hand to give the signal. The switch comprises a metal strip d which also serves as a cover for the device and is electrically connected to the lamp socket, and a second conductor strip e spaced from the strip d by insulation f and an air gap g. The air gap is closed as the muscles expand and the light from the lamp is directed on to the signalling hand.
