Abstract
397,689. Drinking-appliances for animals. NEWLANDS, J., Mid Dalziel, Dalcross, Inverness. Oct. 7, 1932, No. 27906. [Class 5 (ii).] The bowl 5 of aluminium or aluminium alloy or other light metal is secured by a pivot pin 7 to a lug 9 at the lower end of a water delivery nozzle 6. The nozzle 6 is preferably integral with a valve casing 10 enclosing a single valve 11 carried at the upper end of a spindle 12 extending through the casing into contact with an adjustable stop 14 in a rearward extension of the bowl 5. A spring 15 normally holds the valve on its seat 16 and an adjustable stop 18 is adapted to engage a tail 17 extending upwardly to limit its lift. The valve casing 10 may be attached in an ordinary way to a water supply pipe or, as shown, may be integral with a water connection having a wall plate 21 attached to or integral with it. A stop 22 is provided to prevent the bowl 5 being tilted upwardly too far. In operation, on the bowl being depressed, the valve is lifted permitting water to flow into the bowl: the spring 15, acting through the valve stem 12 and the stop 14 on the bowl, returns it to its original position when the depressing pressure is removed.
