Abstract
381,102. Turbine blades. SHEPHERD, G. R., 2, Norfolk Street, Strand, London.-(Westinghouse Electric & Manufacturing Co. ; East Pittsburg, U.S.A.) April 1, 1932, No. 9462. Drawings to Specification. [Class 110 (iii).] A turbine blade made of nitrogenizable steel is protected from erosion and corrosion by first plating it, as with nickel or tin, then grinding off the plating from that portion which suffers most severe erosion, and subjecting the blade to a nitriding process to harden the surface from which the plating has been removed.
