Abstract
372,813. Wire resistances. TURNER, C. C., 51, Salisbury Road, and YOUNG, OSMOND, & YOUNG, Ltd., Unity Works, both in Wehwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire. Feb. 7, 1931, No. 3944. [Class 37.] Electric heating elements of grid formation have conductors of corrugated or studded strip material with adjacent portions separated by strip insulating material. The corrugated strip 4 in Fig. 1 is attached to, and wound round, a metal disc 1, adjacent turns being separated by the insulating material 5. The conducting strip is finally attached to an outer metal ring 7. In the modified construction of Fig. 3, the resistor is repeatedly folded back on itself, but adjacent portions may also be connected in parallel. In a light and flexible construction, the heavy frame is dispensed with, and the parallel resistors are bound to the insulating strips with asbestos thread. A number of separate resistance ribbons may be wound together and arranged in series or in parallel in any of the modifications.
