[Class 92 (ii).] An apparatus for transferring cartridges from a receptacle having a plurality of rows of strips, as described in Specification 372,208, into the magazines of firearms comprises a device, for example a plate-like frame d, for receiving the cartridge receptacle g<1> and guiding it as it is moved step by step for the successive transfer of each row of cartridges g<2> to a magazine b by a plunger f, and finally for the ejection of the emptied receptacle. The plate d is provided with a mouthpiece a which guides the cartridges to the magazine b and is intended to be grasped by the left hand with the thumb serving to impart the step-by-step movement to the cartridge receptacle. A ledge e stops the cartridges at each step and guides them while they are pushed into the magazine by the plunger f operated by the pressure of the right hand on a plate f<2>. The plunger is returned to its initial outward position by a spring acting on a piston-rod f3 attached to the plate f<2>. The plate d may be made broad enough to receive several receptacles. In a modification, the plate d is replaced by a box-like casing having a wall to perform the stopping function of the ledge e, and a spring flap to feed the receptacle step by step in place of the hand operation mentioned above.
