[Classes 7 (ii) and 7 (v).] To facilitate starting, the film of lubricant, deposited on the cylinder walls a, is dissolved by prior injection of a spray of combustible solvent from a nozzle d located near the lower deadcentre position of the piston. The solvent, which may be a mixture of paraffin oil and benzol, is vaporized during the compression stroke and assists ignition.
