[Class 59.] In the mill described in the parent Specification comprising an open-ended cylinder 10, Fig. 2, and a vertically-guided roller 5 the scraper 17 .. 20 is composed of or includes a plurality of guide-pieces or blades 22 pivoted on a pivotal shaft 13, the blades being connected to a common adjustable controlling device 25, 27 in such manner as to vary the speed at which the material scraped off passes through the mill. The scraper comprises a plate 17, Fig. 3, fixed to the shaft 13, a removable edge 20 being attached to the plate by clamps 18. Pivots 21 are attaehed to the shaft 13, on each of which is mounted a guide blade 22 provided with a pivot 24 for connection to a bar 25, Fig. 2, adapted to be moved by a lever 27 to vary the inclination of the blades 22 on the receiving side of the scraper 17, 20. An extension 32 is provided on each blade 22 in order to maintain control over the direction of the discharged material as the scraper 22 becomes worn. A blade 22<1>, fixed to the scraper 20, 17, directs the finished material into a chute 33. In a modification the scraper 17, 20 is made in sections, each section being pivoted to the bar 13 in a diametrical plane so that movement of the rod 25 varies the inclination of the scraper in relation to the longitudinal axis of the mill, the edges of the scraper being curved or made flexible to accommodate the movement.
