[Classes 97 (i), 97 (iii), and 98 (i).] A measuring device for determining the position of a point in a body comprises a measuring scale, compass or similar device provided with a scale division on which the position of the point may be directly read off from a stereoscopic X-ray photograph. The scale may also be furnished with proportional scales for the determination of the length of the body, calibrated in accordance with definite distances from the photographic plate. As shown in the Figure, the distance PO corresponds to the distance along which the plate is displaced between the successive exposures, while the zero mark of the scale is displaced from O by a distance equal to that between the plate and the supporting surface. The position of the point is read off directly on the scale 8. The scales 9 serve to determine the length of the body at definite distances from the plate.
