[Class 136 (i).] In a device for adjustably clamping a stay to a mudguard, a post or pillar is rotatably mounted in a bridge-piece or lug on the mudguard, and a hole is formed transversely through the post or pillar to receive the end of the stay, which is secured in the desired position by a nut or setscrew engaging a screw-threaded part of the post or of a bolt movable axially through the post, the arrangement being such that the stay may be adjusted longitudinally and also angularly at the point of connection. In the form shown in Fig. 2, a post e is loosely mounted in a hole in a bridgepiece b on the mudguard a, and is formed with a transverse hole g to receive the stay d, which is secured in the required position by a nut h on a threaded part of the post, the nut also holding the post against rotational movement. In the form shown in Fig. 3, the post i is hollow to receive a screw-bolt j, and the stay d is passed through holes in the post and bolt and secured by means of a nut m on the outer end of the bolt j. In another form, the stay is clamped against the lug or bridgepiece by a set-screw engaging a threaded axial hole in the post. In a further modification, the post is split and a nut screwing on its tapered outer end draws the split parts together to clamp the stay. In another form, two stays are clamped against opposite sides of each end of the bridgepiece.
