Abstract
354,559. Electric igniters and battery lamps. BOLOM, J., 4, Kanalskß, and HORSKY, M., 7, Tyrsova, both in Prague. Aug. 16, 1930, No. 24605. [Classes 39 (ii) and 75 (iii).] An electric igniter comprises an insulating plate 3 having a filament 14 on one side connected with contacts 12, 13 on the other side. the plate being slidable in guides 22 in a casing 11 relatively to the terminals 8, 9 of a battery 10 for opening or closing the circuit. A sheet 21 of mica or other heat-insulating material is preferably interposed between the plate and the filament. The plate may be operated by a hinged cap 4 adapted to cover an opening in the lid 1 through which the filament projects, a projection 7 on the cap engaging in a hole 6 in the plate. Alternatively the cap may be connected to the plate by means of a lever or a rack-and-pinion. The filament is preferably coated with a non-oxidizable material, which may consist of kaolin and graphite. In the form shown, the igniter is combined with a battery lamp, the contact 13 being connected with the terminal 9 by a resilient bent tongue 15 secured to, but insulated from, the bulb-holder 19. The igniter circuit is closed, on opening the cap 4, by the contact 12 engaging the bulb-holder, which is in contact with the terminal 8, and the lamp circuit is controlled by means of a pushbutton 17 or the like.
