Abstract

334,568. Finnell, W. S. Dec. 26, 1928, [Convention date]. Vacuum cleaners.-In a hand propelled machine for removing water and dirt from floors a squeegee is mounted on wheels and communicates with a separating chamber which is exhausted by an electrically driven fan. The squeegee 17 is attached to the rear face 15<b> of the nozzle 16 and a flexible flap 30, narrower than the squeegee, is attached to the front face of the nozzle. The flap is provided with slits &c. to ensure a passage of air through the nozzle. The nozzle 16 is attached to a tube 25 which extends to the upper end of the separating chamber 22 and is bent over towards the side. On the opposite side of the chamber is the suction inlet 29a of the electrically driven fan 28. To facilitate the removal of the deposit in the separating chamber 22, a nozzle 35 is arranged in the base which is closed by a valve 38 operated by the spindle 37 and an external handle 36.
