Abstract
318,179. Gutehoffnungsh³tte Oberhausen Akt.-Ges. Aug. 29, 1928, [Convention date]. Metal pipes.-A pipe, such as the exhaust pipe of an internal-combustion engine, is provided with a refractory lining d which is protected by a layer e of fire-proof enamel &c. The lining d is baked from the interior at a temperature which exceeds that of the exhaust gases after the application of the enamel; preferably it is also baked before the application thereof. In a modification the enamel is dispensed with, the protective layer being made by firing the refractory lining from the interior to such an extent that a scarification of its surface takes place. Preferably an asbestos covering a is first applied to the inner wall of the pipe, while meshed wire c, held in place by end rings b, welded to the pipe, and intermediate ones b<1> as shown, is provided to bed the refractory lining.
