Abstract

315,815. Molins, W. E. April 19, 1928. Contents, delivering; fittings, internal.-A car. ton for containing a single row of cigarettes &c. with their axes arranged parallel to the mouth of the carton is provided with a lining 5 arranged in U formation about the cigarettes so that by pulling one end of the lining the cigarettes may be moved one at a time through the mouth of the carton while the lining also maintains the remaining cigarettes as a composite hunch and free from unintentional displacement when the carton is closed. As shown the lining 5 is applied to a carton formed from a single blank and comprising two block-ended pockets 1 arranged mouth to mouth and hingedly connected by a flap 2 which extends across the mouths of the pockets when the carton is closed. As the cigarettes are removed from a pocket, the end of the lining 5 which is pulled out is folded back against the adjacent face of the pocket or torn off. Slots 6 in the inner faces of the pockets facilitate ejection of the. cigarettes and allow the lining to be moved back into the pocket if it has been pulled out too far. The mouths of the pockets are cut away at 9 to facilitate grasping the end of the lining or the end may be arranged to extend beyond the mouth of the pocket or carton. One end of the lining may be gummed to the inside of the flap of a single-pocket carton.
