Abstract

300,725. Morris, M. C. Sept. 1, 1927. No Patent granted (Sealing fee not paid). Spray carburettors.-In order to prevent loss of suction at the nozzle and consequent interruption of the fuel supply when the throttle valve is opened suddenly to accelerate, an automatic air valve 15 loaded by a spring or weight is located on the air inlet side of the nozzle 8 and is adapted to be under the control of the throttle valve 2 which carries an apertured sleeve G sliding over the nozzle. The valve 15, in the form of a plate, is located in a rectangular casing 14 and its lower pivoted edge is tubular to enclose the loading spring which tends to move the valve towards its closed position. The carburettor also has a ball valve 10 and plug valve 11 controlling air inlets 12, 13 and these, together with the sleeve 6, are as described in Specifications 211,910 and 240,503. With the throttle nearly closed, the air valve is in the position 15; on opening the throttle fully the air valve will move to the position 15<a> thus closing the air inlet end maintaining the suction ; as the engine speed increases the valve will be drawn by suction to the position 15<b> thus giving a full air supply.
