Abstract

300,675. Brown, W. W., and Whitney, P. G. Aug. 16, 1927. No Patent granted (Sealing fee not paid). Ground anchors for securing a tennis, fencing or other post comprise a base plate 1 which may be integral with or detachably secured to the post 1<a> and a plate 3 sunk into the ground and provided with a central aperture. A plate 6 or socket is secured to the under side of the plate 3 and is provided with a central aperture 7 having diametrically opposite recesses through which are passed lugs 8a projecting from a screwed rod 8 so that by partially rotating the rod it becomes locked to the plate 6. The rod passes through a tube 4 and is provided with a nut 10 which bears on a base plate 1, the end of which may be bifurcated. A collar may be interposed between the nut and the plate. When the post is removed the upper end of the tube 4 is covered by a flanged plate.
