Abstract

304,967. Bamag-Meguin Akt.-Ges. Feb. 20, 1928, [Convention date]. Filters with loose filtering-materials.-Flushing water under pressure is employed in sand filters to force in air to assist in the cleansing of the medium, each of the effluent orifices distributed uniformly over the bottom of the filter being constructed as an injector. Both the discharge main 6 and the branches 2 have an upper compartment for the supply of air, as from a pipe 9, and the nozzles 3, Fig. 2, on the branches are arranged as injectors, so that a reverse flow of flushing water drives air into the filter medium. A gutter above the medium serves to supply the raw water and to discharge the flushing water.
