Abstract

Valves controlled by ,pilot or relay valves.-A valve for controlling the supply of liquid to a tank or container comprises a main valve, such as 6, normally held to its seat by the direct pressure of the inlet fluid thereon, and adapted to be opened by a piston 4 under the control of a float actuated auxiliary valve 9 which regulates access of fluid to the piston from the high pressure inlet side 8 of the main valve; this valve is characterized in that the piston 4 is disposed on the low pressure or outlet side of the main valve seating. The piston rod or spindle 5 may simply abut on the under side of the valve 6, as shown. The piston is provided with a bleed hole 12 for relieving the pressure from the working face of the piston when the auxiliary valve is closed.
