Abstract

283,236. Wilshire, G. July 9, 1926. Magnetic appliances; heating appliances.-The body is heated and subjected to a magnetic field by means of a coil of wire carrying a current, the coil being covered throughout its length with any suitable fabric F as shown in Fig. 3. A thermostat operated by the heat from the coil may be included in the circuit to open the circuit when a pre-determined temperature is reached. The coil may be enclosed in a jacket, blanket or other article. In the form shown in Fig. 4 two coils c, c<1> are enclosed in a pad P having a central opening o. The coils may be connected so that the current flows in the same or in the opposite direction in the two coils. In use, the head is placed through the opening o, the coils c, c<1> resting against the front and back of the patient's body.
