Abstract
288,865. Fekete, S. I., and Hudson Motor Car Co. July 12, 1927. Cylinders, arrangement of ports and igniters in, combustion chambers and passages of.-In a cylinder having an overhead inlet valve 21 and a side exhaust valve 13, the inlet port is so arranged that. it overlaps, and its centre line is substantially equidistant from the centre lines of, the exhaust valve and the cylinder bore. The combustion chainber 20 is flat and shaped as shown, the least possible clearance being left over the piston. The sparking plug 24 is preferably placed on the remote side of the exhaust port. The inlet passage 18 extends into a manifold arranged on the same side of the cylinder blocks as the exhaust passages 12 and the inlet manifold preferably contains baffles to distribute the charge evenly into the separate inlet ports.
