Soldering; welding.-In electrically welding or hard soldering good conducting metals or alloys, such as copper, the parts to be joined are connected electrically on both sides of the joint as well as at the join itself. The bars a, b to be joined are held in pairs of electrodes c, d connected to one terminal e of the secondary of a transformer and the joint n which contains a non-conducting flux or soldering medium, is bridged by a pair of electrodes k of carbon or other bad conductor, which are connected to the other terminal of the transformer, passage of the current through the flux being thus avoided.
