Abstract

284,120. Blair, R. S. May 5, 1927. Internal fittings.- Apparatus for indicating the moisture of air, particularly applicable to a humidor receptacle, comprises a substance which changes its colour with changes of dampness and a coacting member provided with symbols which become visible bv colour contrast effect when the moisture content of the air is too great, or too little. The device is mounted in a frame 1 and comprises a strip 8 impregnated with cobalt chloride for example, which is blue when dry and becomes pink when wet. Adjacent the strip 8 is a. strip 2 divided into areas 3, 4 through which are respectively stencilled the signals " too wet " and " too dry," the part 3 being coloured blue and the part 4 pink so that when, for example, the strip 8 is blue the signal " too dry " becomes visible by colour contrast while the signal " too wet " is not seen. The device is seen through a window 6, the transparency of which is reduced by frosting or colouring so that the signals are only seen when there is a substantial colour contrast. Fig. 5 shows the device contained in the lower part of a glass humidor jar 12, the part 13, or the whole jar being coloured or frosted. The moisture indicating device extends wholly around the jar and the member 2 has a number of areas 17, 18. 19 alternately marked " too wet " and " too dry." Moistening means 20 are contained in the upper part of the jar.
