Smut-catchers.-A plane or dished disc a of glass, porcelain, or other easily cleaned material has a central aperture by means of which it is rotatably mounted between resilient washers on a detachable lower end part h of the gas supply pipe above the gas nipple of an inverted incandescent burner. The disc is preferably mounted between asbestos washers j and metal washers k upon the neck g of the part h and retained in place by a sleeve l, the neck g being slightly smaller in diameter than the aperture in the disc and longer than the thickness of the combined disc and washers.
