276,743. Sulman, H. L., and Picard, H. F. K. June 2,1926. Drawings to Specification. Retorts for making chemical compounds.-The retort used for treating a mixture of oxidized tin ore and carbonaceous material at 600-700‹ C. with hydrochloric acid gas for selective distillation of stannous chloride may comprise a silica tube or an iron retort lined with a vitreous enamel, for example, one comprising an acid silicate containing 66-70 per cent of silica with alkalies, alkaline earths, and alumina as bases. According to the first Provisional Specification, the retort may be of plumbago dressed with graphite.
