Abstract
276,356. Sterzl, E. Aug. 20, 1926, [Convention date]. Continuous discharge apparatus with stationary containers.-In mixing or otherwise treating wet or dry substances by means of a rotating toothed drum engaging with stationary counter teeth, the treated substances being discharged at a point axially distant from the feeding-point, a continuous axial movement of all the parts of the material under treatment is caused by means of the rotating teeth, the front faces of which are inclined so as to form with the axis of the drum angles open towards the outlet. The faces of the fixed teeth are oblique so as to form with the axis of the casing angles open towards the outlet. As shown, the rotary drum 6 mounted on a shaft 5 is provided with equidistant trapezoidal teeth 7 the fronts or faces of which are inclined at about 23‹ to the axis of the drum, and the casing 8 is provided with equidistant trapezoidal teeth 9 extending radially to nearly the surface of the drum and with their faces inclined at about 23‹ to the axis of the drum. The teeth 7 pass between the teeth 9, and the lateral surfaces of all the teeth are perpendicular to the axis. The dimensions of the teeth are approximately the same as those of the spaces between them. The' material is fed by a pipe 10 at the middle of the drum and delivered through channels 11, 12 at the ends of the ends of the drum into an outlet pipe 13. - The lateral and top surfaces of the teeth, and the cylindrical inner surfaces of the casing opposed to the rotating teeth may be roughened. In each of the two halves of the apparatus, the oblique front surfaces of the rotating and fixed teeth face outwardly towards the respective outlet. Leather waste, rags, waste of raw hides. waste-paper, wood waste, &c. can be treated in the apparatus. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises also a form of apparatus in which the teeth are carried by a rotating disc and a fixed disc. This subjectmatter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
