Protectors, construction of.-Heel pads constructed to prevent mud splashing are made of rubber, leather, or the like provided with a head surface having lancet-shaped indentations a<1> arranged as shown in Fig. 1. The indentations are slightly curved towards the front of the heel and do not extend to the outer edge. Owing to the concavity of the tread, the indentations become deeper towards the outer edge. A horseshoeshaped groove b open at the front ends connects the indentations for discharge of mud and water. An elliptical central cavity d is provided having a discharge channel e.
