The device may comprise a.processor which learns to detect a nail contour, setting an initial shape 'including feature points based on learning from image data of a finger, setting as a reference point a feature point among the feature points corresponding to a reference position, thereby obtaining contour detection information.
The processor target data being image data based on a target nail, such that a point corresponding to the reference position and contour of the finger including target is superimposed on the reference point, to fit a shape to the target nail from the initial position, detecting the contour of the target nail.
In some embodiments the device may comprise a nail preparation means. For example wherein prior to application of a nail cover the user's fingernails may be coated with a substance such as light reactive base coat, which may be used to provide improved visibility to the user's target fingernail(s). This may enable the scanning means to be more effective.
A preferred embodiment of the inVention will now be described by way of example only and with reference to the Figures in which:
Brief Description of Figures.
Figure 1 shows an isometric view of an embodiment of the device according to the present invention; Figure 2 shows a. reverse isometric view of the embodiment of the device shown in 5 Figure 1; Figure 3 shows an isometric view of the embodiment of the device shown in Figure 1, with housing removed; Figure 4 shows a reverse isometric view of the embodiment of the device as shown ' in Figure 3; Figure 5 shows an exploded isometric view of the embodiment of the device as shown in Figure 3; and Figure 6 shows an exploded isometric view of the embodiment of the device as shown in Figure 3.
Detailed Description of Figures
With reference to the figures there is shown an embodiment of a nail care device 99 according to the present invention generally comprising a houSing 1 with an entrance A for pasSage of one or more Of a user's hands into an internal volume defined within the housing, a bed 2 for receipt of the user's hand or hands, a scanning means for scanning one or more of a user's fingernails, and a placement means for placement of nail covers onto the user's fingertips, and a control means for controlling the scanning means and the placement means.
In particular reference to the embodiment shown in the Figures the embodiment comprises a stainless steel housing 1, of a substantially cuboid shape, with three flat sides available for advertising and information.
35. The top and bottom faces are also substantially flat, although the bottom face may be envisaged to include feecfor example adjustable or resiliently deformable feet. . * The fourth side includes the entrance A in a lower part of the side, and a local control means 5 above it.
The local control means comprises a touchscreen control, comprising a light emitting diode (LED). touchscreen for control of nail cover choice.
* Below the entrance there is a support ramp 3, envisaged to support a user's arms as their hands are placed into the entrance. The entrance is for passage of two hands 10 simultaneously,.and terminates in a horizontal bed 2.
The bed is provided with two indentations 4 for receipt of the user's hands. The support ramp further includes a resiliently deformable cover for receipt and guidance of the user's arms, so as to ensure correct placement of the hands, and minimise movement during processing. The power source 6 is provided by wiring to an electrical network (not shown).
Internally the housing comprises: An open-topped cartridge container 15 for receipt of a plurality of nail covers, so as to allow a greater choice for the user when operating the device via the local control means;, the cartridge containing* 32 different colours. Each colour has 2 different styles and three sizes to suit a range of user.
Electronics box (not shown) containing the microcontroller, motor drivers and power management boards, loCated on the underside of the housing top.
Manipulator assembly 10 providing the placement means, wherein the nail covers are manipulated via suction. A motor 18 drives a pulley 22, which is connected via a belt to a second pulley at the top of a lead screw, on which a connector block for the CNC head 11 travels vertically on brackets 24 on a track 19. The electronic connections are protected by casings 12.
A silicone tip 14 extending below, the head 11 towards the container 15 flexes around 35 the nail cover and is able to pick it up through suction.
A depth camera and LEDs are built into the head. These detect the nail and ensure the manipulator moves the correct distances to pick up and move the nail covers.
* The manipulator assembly can therefore move in the x, y and z-axes for collecting 5 and placing hail covers using motors 16 driving along the gantry tracks 13, wherein two side assemblies 23 having a plurality of wheels 21 travel on the tracks. 13 to control front to rear movement of the manipulator.
Scanning means comprising a depth camera 41 which scans the user's nail covers 10 and determines their size LEDs 44 illuminate the camera.
540 watt ultraviolet lamp (not shown) to speed up the nail adhesion process, located on the inner face of the housing front.
3-axis gantry, 13 moves the manipulator assembly 10 around the housing for the selection and manipulation of nail covers.
Indentations 4 comprising padding, where the users can rest their hands while the nail covers are applied to their fingertips. There are thumb pad indentations 54 in the 20 centre for when thumbnails are applied.
Adhesive station 33, wherein adhesive is stored at the back of the housing within a removable, refillable container which consists of a plastic outer casing with an EVA foam block in the middle. In use, the adhesive is poured into the box and the foam soaks up the adhesive. Exposed tips of foam are adapted for different sizes of nail covers. When applying the nail, the manipulator presses the underside of the nail onto the corresponding foam tip, applying adhesive onto the bottom of the nail cover.
In use therefore a user places their hands through the entrance. Once a nail cover * 30 has been collected by the suction head it takes it to the adhesive station. This consists of 6 size-specific sponges soaked in adhesive. The nail cover is pressed against the sponge-transferring adhesive onto the nail cover ready for placement.
The CNC head then takes the nail cover to the user's fingertip and places the nail 35 cover over the user's nail according to its scanned position and orientation: The invention has been described by way of examples only and it will be appreciated that variation may be made to the above-mentioned embodiments without departing from the scope of protection as defined by the claims.
