Abstract

260,899. Sterling, J. R. June 14, 1926. Separators for removing oily matter from steam or other hot gaseous medium comprise a chamber 5 having a hollow baffle 8 subdivided by a partition 9 into two compartments communicating with each other at one end of the baffle. A cooling medium such as water is circulated through the' baffle, the temperature of which is so controlled as to effect separation of oil without condensing the steam. In a modification a number of hollow baffles alternate with ordinary upstanding baffle plates, thus providing a sinuous course for the steam. Specification 223,298, [Class 64 (ii), Heating systems &c.], is referred to.
