Abstract
269,111. Pantlin, C. Jan. 11, 1927. Nests. - The nest is comprised by a frame having sides 1, 1<a>, a base 2, roof 3, rear boards 5 5a, arranged behind a third rear board 6 and a front board 7 below which a flap 8 swings. A resilient support 12 preferably formed by a sheet of woven wire is arranged on fillets 13 to receive the hen. The support 12 slopes to the rear so that any egg laid will roll down the slope through a gap 15 at the end of the support and fall into a woven wire member 16 that is removably secured by staples 18 to the rear board 5a and is adapted to direct the rolling egg through its open front end to the forward part 11 of the compartment below the support 12. A partition 19, that may be withdrawn, prevents dirt carried in by the hen falling on the eggs.
