Abstract

Phone loss prevention device having a wristband preferably linked by radio waves, e.g. Bluetooth (RTM), to a phone case, the wristband and phone case each having a radio receiver and transmitter respectively, the wristband able to alert a wearer when the phone case is greater than a predetermined distance from the wristband corresponding to a drop in radio signal below a preset threshold. The wristband may have a PIC microcontroller to detect when the single has dropped below a threshold and consequently active a vibrator to alert the user to avoid loss of a mobile phone. Both phone case and wristband may be powered independently from a phone located in the case by integral batteries, allowing the device to function when the phone is off. The wristband may vibrate to alert the user when either battery output drops below a critical value.

Description

Intellectual Property Office Application No. GII1504862.2 RTM Date:24 September 2015 The following terms are registered trade marks and should be read as such wherever they occur in this document: Bluetooth Intellectual Property Office is an operating name of the Patent Office www.gov.uk /ipo Vibrating phone loss prevention wristband.
This invention relates to a device that will help prevent phone loss.
Description
Background
Losing a phone can be a very traumatic experience as many people have so many personal pictures and important contact details stored on their devices. Phones can easily be left behind accidently in many places, bars, taxis etc. To overcome this, the present invention proposes a wristband and phone case, linked via radio waves, both devices will have independent batteries and the wristband will vibrate when the radio signal drops beneath a predetermined level, meaning the phone case is a certain distance from the wristband.
Statement of invention
This invention will alert the user when their phone case has moved a predetermined distance from their wristband, this will alert the user that their phone is not on their person, allowing them to realise that the phone case has been left behind before it becomes irretrievable.
The battery on both devises will be independent from the phone battery, allowing these devices to function even if the phone has been turned off.
Preferably, the phone case will also function as a protective case for your phone.
Technical description
The wearable wristband will vibrate to alert the user when the battery goes beneath a critical low value, the vibrations will be a series of short vibrations to allow the wearer to identify the difference between the 'lost phone' alert. The phone case battery and the wristband battery will be rechargeable, this could be done using inductive charging, and this could also be done using standard charging. There will be a mechanism to allow the user to power down the wristband, this could be done using a small button hidden inside the casing of the wristband.
The phone case will have a radio wave transmitter, the wristband will have a receiver, when the radio wave strength reaches a predetermined value the PIC located in the wristband will activate the vibration device.
Drawings The accompanying drawings illustrate the invention and serve to further explain the present invention.
Figure 1. Shows a three dimensional view of both the case (5) [applied on the phone] and the vibrating wristband (6). As indicated on the drawing the vibration (4) starts as soon as both devices are separated by an approximate distance of 10m.
Figure 2. Consists of a three dimensional exploded view of the phone case showing the key components making up the overall assembly that is the battery (2), phone case (5) and the Bluetooth with microcontroller (1) of the phone case (5).
Figure 3. Consists of a three dimensional exploded view of the wristband (6) showing the key components that is the Bluetooth with microcontroller (1), battery (2), driver (3) and vibrator (4) making up the overall assembly of the wristband (6).
Figure 4. Consists of a three dimensional view of the charger (7), case (5) and wristband (6) devices. This illustrates the possibility of having a charger (7) to charge the batteries of both the case and the wristband devices.
Figure 5. The desired range in meters (7) will be programmed into the Bluetooth + Microcontroller (1). There is a vibration from the vibrator (4) of the wristband (6) when there is specific range (7) between the wristband and the phone case (5). The driver (3) receives a signal when the Bluetooth (1) on the wristband (6) and the phone case (5) loses the signal between them. The Battery (2) produces energy to run the devices when paired.
Figure 6. Consists of a Bluetooth with Microcontroller (1), Battery (2), Driver (3) and Vibrator (4). Brief properties are shown below (1) -Micro in size -Less Power Consumption (Bluetooth) -Fewer input and output port (2) -Smaller in Size -Higher density of power -Longer Lasting -Li-ion battery (3) -It amplifies the current of the output from microcontroller to vibrator (3) (4) -Tiny in Size -Less Power Consumption Claim
