Description

Child Seat with Seven-Point Harness System The invention relates to a child seat, in particular for a motor vehicle, of the kind indicated in the preamble of patent claim 1 Such child seat is known froth the US 2010/0115685 Al. The child seat comprises a restraint vest, which is capable of being closed and opened by means of a locking device, and a harness system, which comprises several safety belts, by means of which the restraint vest is attached to the child seat. A child belted in the child seat is secured by two shoulder belts, two pelvis belts, and a crotch belt. The shoulder belts are guided along belt guides provided on the restraint vest.
The US 6,601,916 B1 equally shows a child seat with an integrated restraint vest, wherein the restraint vest is attached by means of a three-point harness system to the child seat.
The EP 2 051 876 Bi shows a child seat comprising a harness system having a restraint portion for a top part of a child's body and a restraint portion for a bottom part of the child's body.
Further, the US 200810252132 Al and the US 2,448,076 show restraint vests, which can be equipped with a harness system, in order to belt passengers of a motor vehicle.
It is the task of the present invention to provide a child seat, by means of which a child can be belted in an improved way.
The task is solved by a child seat with the features of patent claim 1. Advantageous embodiments with expedient and non-trivial further developments of the invention are indicated in the dependent claims.
A child seat according to the invention is characterized by the fact that the harness system is designed as a seven-point harness system. By means of the seven-point harness system a child belted in the child seat in combination with a restraint vest can be belted in a particularly safe way in the child seat. Commonly, child seats merely have a five-point harness system or a three-point harness system, whereby the child in particular in the case of a frontal collision undergoes a relatively strong compression in the vertical direction. By the solution according to the invention the upper part of the child's body is held and attached in a particularly safe way to the child seat, whereby the child is safeguarded particularly well in the case of accidents.
In an advantageous embodiment of the invention the harness system comprises two of each of shoulder belts, chest belts, and pelvis belts, which in portions are attached on the restraint vest and on the child seat. Thereby the upper part of the child's upper body is fixed in a particularly safe way effectively preventing a slipping in particular from the shoulder belts.
A further advantageous embodiment of the invention envisages that the harness system comprises a crotch belt fastened in a seating of the child seat, the crotch belt being capable of being coupled with the restraint vest and/or a part of the other safety belts by means of a clasp. Thereby it is avoided that the child can slip out from the child seat, as the crotch belt prevents a slipping out from the child seat.
In a further advantageous embodiment of the invention it is envisaged that as locking device a velcro is provided, which extends essentially along an entire front face of the restraint vest. The velcro in this arrangement is designed to be strong enough to keep the child belted in the child seat from releasing itself on its own. At the same time, by way of the velcro in an emergency case it is possible to free the child particularly fast from the harness system and thus from the child seat.
Finally, it is envisaged according to a further advantageous embodiment of the invention that the restraint vest has paddings, in particular foam paddings, at least in the portions along which the belts extend. The belt forces are absorbed by the paddings and evenly distributed over the upper part of the body, whilst sores caused by the belts are avoided at the same time.
Further advantages, features, and details of the invention derive from the following description of advantageous embodiments and by reference to the drawing.
The drawing shows in: Fig. 1 a perspective view of a child seat for a motor vehicle comprising an integrated restraint vest, which is capable of being opened and closed, and comprising a seven-point harness system comprising several safety belts, by means of which the restraint vest is attached on the child seat; Fig. 2 a perspective view of the child seat shown in Fig. 1, with a child belted in the child seat; and in Fig. 3 a lateral view of the belted child shown in Fig. 2.
Fig. 1 is a perspective view of a child seat 10 for a motor vehicle (not shown). The child seat 10 comprises a restraint vest 12, which is capable of being opened and closed by means of a locking device 14 designed as a velcro. Moreover the child seat 10 comprises a harness system 16, by means of which the restraint vest 12 is attached to the child seat 10.
The harness system 16 comprises two of each of shoulder belts 18, chest belts 20, and pelvis belts 22, which in portions are arranged on the restraint vest 12 and on the child seat 10. Moreover1 the harness system 16 comprises a crotch belt 28 fastened in the seating 24 of the child seat 10, which is capable of being coupled with the restraint vest 12 and/or at least one pal of the other belts 18, 22 by means of a clasp 26.
The shoulder belts 18, the chest belts 20, and the pelvis belts 22 are led through through-openings in the backrest 30 (not designated in more detail) of the child seat 10. Ends of the belts 18, 20, 22, which are not shown and are led through the backrest 30, can for instance be wound around a rear face (not designated in more detail) of the child seat 10 and be fastened there. The crotch belt 28, which is led through an opening (not designated in more detail) of the seating 24 can equally be guided up to the rear face of child seat 10 and be fastened there.
On the restraint vest 12 guides (not shown here), for instance in the form of loops or the like, can be envisaged, through which the belts 18, 20, 22 can be led, thus attaching the restraint vest 12 to the child seat 10, The restraint vest 12 moreover comprises paddings (not shown here), for instance in the form of foam addings, which are envisaged in the portions along which the belts 18, 20, 22 extend. Moreover, it is equally possible that the entire restraint vest 12 is padded by means of a foam padding or the like.
Fig. 2 represents the child seat 10 shown in Fig. 1, wherein a child 32 is belted in the child seat 10. For belting the child 32 to the child seat 10 the child is seated in the child seat 10 to start with. Subsequently, the restraint vest 12 is put on the child 32. Then the restraint vest 12 can be closed in the middle by closing the locking device 14, which is designed as a velcro. Subsequently, the clasp 28 is led to a bottom portion of the restraint vest 12, and coupled to the restraint vest 12 or to loose ends (not shown) of the shoulder belts 18. As soon as the child 32 has been belted by means of the restraint vest 12 and the harness system 16 on the child seat 10, it is possible, if required, to adjust the belts 18, 20, 22, 28 as desired, so that the child is belted tightly.
The locking device 14 designed as velcro is configured to keep the child from opening the locking device 14 on its own. By way of envisaging the velcro, however, in an case of emergency it is possible in an easy and fast way to release the child 32 from the harness system 16 and to take it out from the child seat 10. By the harness system 16 designed as seven-point harness system the child 32 is held safely in the child seat 10 and in particular in case of a frontal collision it is restrained better than by means of the common harness systems. The restraint vest 12 equipped with paddings moreover contributes to the fact that forces occurring on the belts 18, 20, 22 are evenly distributed over the child 32 and dampened.
In Fig. 3 the child 32 belted to the child seat is shown from Fig. 2, wherein merely the harness system 16 of the childseat 10 and the child 32 are shown. As can be seen from the lateral view, in particular the chest belt 20 helps to safely restrain the child in the child seat 10 in the base of a frontal collision. Moreover the crotch belt 28 helps to prevent the child 32 from slipping out from the restraint vest 12 and then from the child seat 10.
The child seat 10 with its integrated restraint vest 12 and the harness system 16 designed as seven-point harness system a particularly safe child seat 10 is provided, which safeguards the child 32 reliably against injuries in the case of an accident.
